Hi Ultra-Cyclists! This year we are continuing our new format for QuadZilla. QuadZilla Staged will be four consecutive 125 mile rides. Bag sag is included to each evening’s official motels. QuadZilla logo swag and post event party are included in your registration fee. Shorter ride options are available. A new QuadZilla Jersey is available and recommended.
Embarking from the trendy college town of Ithaca, NY you'll head west, eventually circling all 11 of the Finger Lakes - that's all 11 in just four days! On your circumnavigation, you'll roll past plump vineyards around Hammondsport and Naples finishing in Canandaigua. The next day’s loop ride will challenge the elite with additional steep climbs and miles out to Letchworth State Park, the “Grand Canyon of the East“, and then on through charming Geneseo. From there the hills will turn to choppy rollers that will deliver you back to the lakefront resort town of Canandaigua. Day 3 features new roads to Fairhaven Beach State Park and easy rolling hills to Auburn, a town basking in stately 19th century homes. Riding back to Ithaca on Day 4 will include more of the steep climbs the Finger Lakes is known for. All the way, you can expect to experience daunting climbs paying off in stunning vistas of the shimmering, crystal-clear Finger Lakes.
The Finger Lakes were formed during the Ice Age by massive glaciers gouging the earth. When the glaciers finally receded, lakes were left behind in the valleys between the peaks surrounding each of the Finger Lakes. Since these ridges run north to south while the route traverses east to west, you’ll be climbing over these peaks and descending into these valleys a multitude of times. This Will Be Awesome! You'll Love It!!
The ride will be run Randonneur-style with checkpoints. Sleep accommodations are available in Canandaigua and Auburn. You'll be provided with a highly detailed map and cue sheet denoting all food and water stops along the route. A bag sag will carry your gear to Canandaigua, Auburn and back to Ithaca. Group dinners will be at these towns. We recommend a minimum 39x26 low gear or a triple. Over 36,000 ft. of climbing!! Unique event mementos will be awarded. The cost of this event is $180. Train Tough and We’ll See You in July!!
